1st Bad Luck:
Last week there was a threefold setback on our farm. Summer is currently replacing winter in Brazil, and with the accompanying change in weather came a period of drought with subsequent strong winds that tore some of the roofs off our buildings and accommodations.
(broken and fallen roof element)
Our roofs are screwed to the wooden structures with screws and washers, but yesterday the winds were so strong that it tore several roof elements from the substructures. That means more work and unplanned costs.

2nd Bad Luck:
The drought often causes the water sources to sink so much that we sometimes have to wait a few days for a certain water level in the springs, and the water supply on the old farm and on the new land sometimes causes emergencies. On the old dog farm (which we have to live in and manage for some time due to lack of funds) the water pump in the spring is defective again and had to be replaced. Again, this meant more work and more expenses. We bring the defective pump to the dealer because it is only a few weeks old and we do not know whether it has brought a technical defect or whether it has been contaminated by the spring that has dried out in the meantime. In the pictures you can see the water quality of the spring on the old farm and on the new land. We (dogs and humans) use the water from the old farm as drinking water, cooking water and to prepare dog food. It is urgently necessary to finally cultivate the new piece of land and to move there with dogs - and everything that we can still use again.

3rd Bad Luck:
If there are problems on the farm, they are mostly collectively. We are in fragile circumstances and every little problem has a ripple effect on other activities on the farm. Since we had been busy repairing the water supply for the last few days, and yesterday also had to repair the destroyed roofs and the main tent, there was less time to look after the dogs. So it unfortunately happened that there was a momentous argument between the dogs. Guerreira was attacked by several dogs, bitten and seriously injured. An open wound through which the internal organs could be seen gapes on her lower abdomen. We had to call the vet to have Guerreira help, as our own possibilities on the farm are still very limited and due to previous incidents there are unfortunately no possibilities to treat such injuries ourselves. Guerreira was taken away by the vet yesterday at noon and stabilized for an operation. We do not yet know whether she survived this operation.

At this point, many thanks again to all donors! T
his month donated: Rebecca P. Margitta P. René P. Without the help we get now and then, we would sometimes despair. We hope now that Guerreira has survived the operation and that she is recovering to stay a part of the dog shelter.
