We Can´t Do Anything About It

We do everything we can, but we are powerless against some circumstances. The weather in Brazil has changed a lot in the last 2-3 years and often gives us problems. There is nothing we can do about days of rain, and even when it is raining heavily, the working conditions are so difficult that we sometimes have no way of getting into the city by car. Bridges collapse, the "roads", which in rural areas are only country lanes, are flooded by the runoff rainwater, and even when it gets drier the paths have deep furrows that sometimes make the paths impassable until the city hall with construction vehicles makes the paths reasonably passable again.

(Pouso Alegre, January 7th 2022)

We wish all helpers and supporters a healthy, successful year 2022, and apologize in advance if not so many new things are posted from the farm in the next few days! The current rainfalls on the sanctuary and in the entire area are causing us huge concern at the moment, as the necessary paths are getting worse and worse and in some cases are already impassable, and the slope in front of our current farm threatens to slide further and further. I am at the weather information every day and look for suitable weather windows so that Dita can try to come into town and get the necessary groceries etc.

Even on the farm itself, the constant rain makes us worry and our work more difficult. Even with the roofs that I built in 2018/2019, the rain that runs off creeps through our entire yard, softens the ground. The moisture pulls into the mattresses on which we and the dogs sometimes sleep, if sleep is possible on such days. It is therefore all the more important for us to find more donors who enable us to realize the new farm as quickly as possible with better, more calculable circumstances.

We continue to hope for better weather on site, for helpful people who look at our project as far as possible, and possibly participate in donations or draw attention to our project. In this context, we would also like to thank MZ (Mitteldeutsche Zeitung) from the bottom of our hearts, who published a small article about our sanctuary, and thus helps us a lot so that our project gets more attention and we don't feel too alone in these difficult times! Many thanks to Undine F. for the friendly interview and your commitment regarding further help in matters of job and network in order to keep the project going!

Thank you very much!!!
